Annual Events

Carnival Sunday - In the tradition of Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday, Assembly hosts a morning of farcical introspection in preparation for Lent. Doughnuts, costumes, and Bible charades have become integral parts of the tradition.

LaCasa Help-A-House - Every May, many people from Assembly volunteer with LaCasa to help repair the homes of low to moderate income homeowners.

Summer Bible School - Assembly joins with Faith, College, Buen Pastor, and Eighth Street Mennonite churches in providing Summer Bible School for children ages K-6.

Fall Electives - Instead of continued corporate worship during the second hour, the fall electives offer a more-traditionally structured "Sunday School" hour.

Worship at OxBow Park - One Sunday in August, Assembly meets in beautiful Oxbow Park for worship, fellowship, and recreation.

Fall Retreat - During October, Assembly has a weekend of fellowship, recreation, study, and worship at Camp Friedenswald. Favorite activities include frisbee football, the survival game, the annual talent variety show, disc golfing, and gathering at Popcorn Hollow for snacks and singing.

Barn Dance - A toe-tappin' evening of sqare-dancing and hayrides is held at the Nelsons' barn in November. Caller Rich Meyer and fiddler James Nelson Gingerich provide the spark for this high energy event.

Candle Making - In December, children from Kindergarten through 5th grade spend an evening dipping candles.

Messiah Sing - A Sunday-morning worship event accompanied by an Assembly-based orchestra. A guest conductor and additional Goshen College student musicians are recruited to fill out the sound.

Christmas Eve Soup Supper Assembly and Faith Mennonite Church join together on Christmas Eve for a simple bread and soup supper, carols, and a children's program.

Recreation

Frisbee Football - Pick up Ultimate Frisbee is played Sunday afternoons, just east of the Goshen College Rec-Fitness Center much of the year. Many non-Assembly community members also participate.

Saturday Morning Basketball - A group of die-hard basketball-lovers are crazy enough to get up to hoop it up at 7 a.m.

Volleyball - Assembly has a co-ed volleyball team in the fall recreational league at Bethany Christian High School.
